FHS Student wins film award

Please congratulate Alexis Daubner.  Her screenplay, Spare Change, was made into a short film June of 2010 after she won Milwaukee Film Collaborative Cinema screenwriting contest.  The film recently won the Audience Choice Award from the Central Wisconsin Film Festival.  It's only the second time a Collaborative Cinema film has won an audience award.  Congratulations Alexis.

If you'd like an opportunity like Alexis, the Milwaukee Film Collaborative Cinema teen screenwriting program has begun accepting ideas.  Students get mentor support in crafting the perfect screenplay.  If yours is chosen it will be made into a short film.  For information see Ms. DeClark or online at Milwaukee-Film.org.

FHS @ Creative Writing Festival

Congratulations to the participants in the U.W. Whitewater Creative Writing Festival!  Over 700 students from Wisconsin and Illinois competed in 11 different genres of writing.  Nineteen Franklin students submitted high quality pieces of original writing that were judged by professors and other writing professionals.  Of the 11 competitive genres, Franklin students came home with an amazing 3 first places.  That is a phenomenal accomplishment.  In the genre of Drama or Screenplay, Tony Kupcho took home first place with his entry – Night JobJoe Shelleh beat out the competition in the genre of Multimedia with his film – Drive Thru.  And Kaitlyn Dornacher rose to the top of the Science Fiction/ Fantasy genre with her work – Our House.  These three winning authors as well as the other 16 authors from Franklin who participated in this rigorous competition are all worthy of the highest praise.
