New School Report Cards Now Available

Wisconsin Department Of Public Instruction Posts Report Cards Online

To access the new School Report Cards from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, go to: http://dpi.wi.gov/reportcards/franklin.html

Some items that will help parents and others to understand the new report cards:

  • All public schools in Wisconsin receive an annual report card in the same format.

  • There are two forms of each School Report Card for each school: 1) School Report Card (Two-page report card); 2) School Report Card Detail (shows

  • Use of the school report card is one of many provisions of Wisconsin’s waiver from federal No Child Left Behind legislation.

  • All Franklin schools are rated in the “Exceeds Expectations” category.

  • The score in the upper left of the new School Report Card is NOT a percentage. It is an index that results from multiple calculations in four “priority areas” on the right side of the report card:

-Student Achievement

-Student Growth

-Closing Gaps

-On Track and Post-Secondary Readiness

For Franklin Public Schools, the School Report Card and other changes as a result of Wisconsin’s waiver mean:

  • The Bar Has Been Raised. Achievement will look like it dropped even though it is the same because scoring systems have changed.

  • The Bar Needed to be Raised. The Franklin Public Schools embraces the higher expectations because they are needed for our businesses, workforce, and for our students to be successful in careers and college.

  • Franklin is on Track. Franklin Public Schools have been on track to meet the challenges through its rigorous curriculum, excellent teaching, and processes of continuous improvement. The new standards and high expectations are consistent with what the district is already doing.

More information about the Wisconsin Dept. of Public Instruction (DPI) waiver is available at the DPI Accountability Reform web page: http://dpi.wi.gov/oea/acct/accountability.html
