Goal of Organization: 
To recognize, develop, and foster academic excellence, community service and leadership skills.  

 

Responsibility of Members: 
Monthly meeting attendance and performing 30 hours of community service per year, including a minimum of 4 hours of peer tutoring.  NHS members must uphold the pillars of Character, Leadership, Scholarship, and Service as role models for the school community as well as the community-at-large.

Senior Leadership Positions:
Elected: President, Vice President, and Secretary

Invitations to NHS: 
Sophomore students who have earned a cumulative, un-weighted 3.5 GPA are formally invited to apply at the conclusion of their first semester.  If invited, students must complete an application, provide 3 character references (2 FHS teachers and 1 community member), and document 20 hours of community service during their time in high school.  Necessary forms will be shared with students at the time of invitation.  Application materials will be reviewed by a committee of FHS faculty members and all selected members will participate in a spring induction ceremony.

Applications to NHS:
Junior students who have earned a cumulative, un-weighted 3.5 GPA will be given the opportunity to apply at the conclusion of their first semester.  Juniors must request application materials from the NHS advisor(s).
